does anyone have any useful tips as to how ago about doing the test? ... especially the aural ?

any specific vocabulary that come up from year to year on the comprehensions?

    useful sayings for notes/letters?

any topic that is expected to come up this year ??

    etc. :D

Underline the key words in the aural then just listen for the key words. I`m not great at the aural but that usually works.
In the letter being quite casual works really well. And sayings such as pour me detendre and pour remonter me morale are really good. I dont know what they mean but its along the lines of to relax myself and to put myself in a good mood.
My teacher said that a postcard should come up this year as a note has come up the last 2 years.

for the listening all you can do is to listen out for key words that you know and take things from there and as for the note/postcard just make sure you start of with and end with:

    ''Cher (name)

    Salut!Comment ca va?Je vais bien''

(what ever you have to write about)

    A bientot
    (name)

What if a formal letter comes up, with no choice? I've never done a formal letter before ever.....I don't even know any of the vocab. What are they usually about?

`Pour me detendre je passe des heures a regarder les feuilletons` or `pour remonter me morale je fais du foot`
I think thats how you do it. I`m not entirely sure but the first one is defintely right.
About the formal letter my french teacher is an exam correcter and he didnt teach it to us so I dont think it will come up.

Weather and directions always come up in the aural so make sure you know them. Make sure you know clothes, place names, jobs, birthdays as they always come up.

Comprehensions depend on your knowledge of vocab in a broad sense...really no pointers here...

Make sure you know how to do a formal and informal letter. Yes, a formal one. It could come up alone this year, you never know. Know an introduction. In the letter, ATTEMPT ALL THE POINTS. You'll get marks just for trying. It's 5 marks for every point, and a few for getting the format right. Also, in the letter, recognise when they want you to use the past tense, present tense and future tense.

Guys don't worry about the formal letters! It is likely that it will come up but there is no way they would ask us it alone, they'd have to include an informal letter as the majority of french students would then be at a disadvantage (I myself was only taught how to compose them three weeks ago!)

Our french teacher spent about 3 weeks at the end going over formal letters, she said its almost guaranteed to be up this year and possibly on its own too.

    Anyway expect the worst...

Any past papers before came up with either the choice between a formal or informal letter when it came up. I personnally much prefer formal letters because you mostly use the present tense or the future tense and you get marks for layout.
    Heres a sample layout:

    Place you are and date
    Your address
    ______
    ______
    Recievers address
    ______
    ______

    Madame/Monsieur

    Details of letter..

Ending: Veuillez agréer, Madame/Monsieur l'expression de mes sentiments distingués.
(basically means yours sincerly) Your name
