Heinrich Brussouw - Munster/Leinster No.6 maybe?

Have seen this guy play Super 14 and for the Emerging Boks before but have to say he looks especially good on the back of his performance against the Lions today.

While I was impressed with him before (as a standout player on a poor team) he seems to have really stepped up to the plate today. Now I know the Lions didn't exactly excel in the backrow (powell and worsley should pick out their favoured seats in the stands for all tests as they'll not move from them now), but with both Leinster and Munster being in need of a quality 6 at the moment I wonder would this guy be a good punt?

Let's face it whoever comes in for both will be a foreign signing so might be worth remembering a less-established guy like this would be a hell of a lot cheaper than any Aussie Cheika and McGahan come up with.

Otherwise who else can you see come in before next season?

(Also I'm aware Sean O'Brien is there but in truth he's a very good 7 who can play 6 - I think an out-and-out 6 is very much needed post-Rocky).

Broussow is an openside. SA opensides play with 6 on their backs and the blindsides wear 7 - same as the French.
If Leinster or Munster wanted a quality SA blindside, they should go after Juan Smith.

Hadn't realised that. Thought he was a blindside none the less but now you mention Juan Smith (who I have previously seen play alongside Brussouw with the cheetahs) you're obviously right. Nice one for pointing that out.

Couldn't see Smith going tbh as I think whoever is signed from the SH will have to be an outsider for a place in World Cup squad for one of the tri-nation sides as a year in the Heineken Cup may push them into the set-up.

Can see it being an Aussie like Matt Hodgson unfortunately due to Aussie preference of Cheika especially. Who'd be the best blindside available really?

you have to take the performance of these guys with a pinch of salt... a second string munster team nearly beat the all blacks, then capitulated against a 2nd rate magners league team (ulster).

it's very hard to measure his true quality based on the biggest game of his life.

Where did you see him play for the Emerging Springboks? As far as I know he has never played for them.

May have been full Boks so. Against England last year at Twickenham I certainly remember him having a good game in spite of the team not going well.
