affiliate domain name help

    Hey folks,

    Im looking into getting an affiliate site up and running for a couple of general products and ive come up with a domain name thats nice and catchy but it wouldnt directly realte to any or the products, like amazon for example,

    so would this be detremental to me in engine searches?

    Certainly more helpful if your domain says what you do, at least initially.

    You could try two domains

    www.thisiswhatIdo.com
    www.thisismybrand.com

    Aim to 'retire' the first as the second gets known and make sure all links are to the 'brand' version.

    The name is important due to the way that google looks at your site for ranking purposes.

    But its not vital if you do your on and off site SEO properly then the actual domain name wont really affect you too much.

    It can also depend on the number of competitors in the market you are going for. Page rank and content are the two things to worry about.
    So building inbound links and having your pages search friendly is the primary thing to look at.
