Caddie Alerts/Pointers

It might be a good idea to share some comments/pointers/ alerts etc. for Irish caddies who work regularly in the summer months, and indeed all year in courses that mainly cater for Americans and tourist visitors. I have found that most Americans who visit here play the same loop of courses and there is no general way of alerting caddies of the kind of good/bad business we are expecting. I work in a prestigious golf resort in the mid-west where the golfers generally play Ballybunion, Waterville, Old-Head, Lahinch, Doonbeg, Adare, Tralee etc, etc. This is a tough year as you all know in golf tourism and there is a lot of cheapskates trying to take advantage of the situation, but at least if there is some forum to protect caddies from being screwed, they will know not to work their bollox off for some group of visitors who will not pay them a decent fee. Ideas anyone?? My point being .. if you caddie for a group who screw you, you can post it here to help some other caddie who's goin to work for them the next day.

I don't understand. Surely the rate is agreed before going out. Are you saying that the golfers don't cough up?

Ya exactly, I work in one of the courses mentioned and there's a set fee and generally you get another 20-45 euro on top of that, and even on the rare occasions that you don't (or get less), your'e still earning decent money and are grateful to have a job!

Boards is hardly the place for pointing out groups who 'screw' caddies, the best method would be to let the other caddies at your course know if you feel that strongly.
