    Hi there,

I hope someone can help me!

I have an advent laptop which according to my device manager, has an Optiarc AD7530D DVD RW drive.

I've googled the info but this model returns no results.

I had a bundle of 50 Verbatim blank DVD-R's, of which only about 60% actually successfully burned for me. The rest were not recognised by the drive and I consistently got a "Please insert a blank Disc" error message with them. I also had some Memorex DVD-R's which were also rejected by the drive

Does anyone know what DVD's I should be using? Perhaps, I need DVD+R's ?

Or is the problem just that the blank discs are of poor quality? - I would have thought both of those brands were pretty good! :)

try burning at a lower speed.

try some dvd+r and see if they are any better. i think + has better tolerance.

i wouldnt say either of those brands were poor, certainly with verbatim which ive used for years, id say they have a fail rate of one in 100 if that on any machines i've used them on.

How old is the drive / laptop you are using , could be worth throwing a lense cleaning disc into it , can't hurt. Also what software are you using

Try using this on google - optiarc ad-7530 d

Verbatim is a fairly crap brand in my experience, nearly all modern DVD players and re-writers these days can handle both -r & +r

I suggest you get a better quality burner if you think that, they are one of the most reliable discs on the market, you might have gotten a bad batch as there are only a few DVD disc factories in the world that supply all the different brands, goggle it.

depending on what im burning, my dvd drive will not accept dvd-rs or dvd+r's only dvd rw's or i get that error message too..

Especially good if burning movies to disc...;);)
