LOL LOL LOL! Did anyone else get results from the QFA's over the last few weeks? What a sham!!!!! So easy. Surely the pass rate is 100%. Passed Pensions, Investment and Life Assurance. I never went to 1 lecture and for all 3 exams my study time was 5 days. (2, 2 and 1). What is the point in doing them if they are so easy??? I heard people getting worried about them over the last few months. Thank god I didnt waste my time going to the classes.

Is it just me or can everyone else see what a crock they are?

I don't think you'll find many people going around saying how difficult they are. They are designed as a MINIMUM competency requirement. So you found them easy, well done, give yourself a pat on the back.

Did a few exams by the Institute of Bankers a few years ago. Was just before the QFA's but the same sort of stuff. I found it was aimed at banking staff who had no education above the Leaving Cert.

A study of the material the week before should enable one to pass the majority of these.

My own experince involved being out for a few pints the night before, getting up at 5 and sitting the exam at 9. Not difficult.

Your right, reminds me of the nite I went out for beers having 2 QFA exams the next day. Even suffering a hangover, it wasn't perplexing stuff to be honest. However I don't tend to rush through studying for exams in general.

How'd you get on Soddy? I've covered most of the material but never applied to do the CFA. May consider it for the next round.

    How'd you find the study/time/exam?

    Cheers, Ixus

    Hey Soddy,

If you took the CFA; what do you plan on using it for? I assume you are hoping of leveraging your level 1 status while working on level 2 & 3. Can I ask what area you are in, or are thinking of moving into?

From what I saw on Saturday 90% were people out of college up to 2 years, without a lot of industry experience (that is; of the 120 out of 300 that showed up).

My background is 10 years in various back/middle office roles. I'm going to wait for my results and then see if I can get a move internally. May not happen with the way things are at the moment though. Long term I'd like to be an independent financial advisor.

I found level 1 fine. It's more the amount of material to cover than the difficulty of the material. I put in 450 hours study for it. About 50 hours before last Christmas and then 20-30 hours per week since late January. I came out of the exam feeling fairly good about it. You need a degree though with some sort of background in accountancy and economics.

Best of luck with your results Soddy. I finished level 3 a couple of years ago.

If you were happy with level 1 after leaving, than you performed alot better than I did.

Annual CFA BBQ tommorrow by the way.

Alright Slam Dunk. I used to work with you. When you pass the 3 exams you're not a CFA charterholder are you? What work requirements did you have to do to get the chartership?
