I assume you're using some sort of router to bridge the connections? The modem itself can't be used directly on either of the consoles.

Even then, it'll not be very good, if it works at all. Mobile is not suited to gaming.

I used to play with o2 on my PC, on FPS. I always had the disadvantage, my pings averaged 100 usually.

What jor el said is correct you would need to buy a special 3g router or get a PC and share the connection.

    No you wouldn't.

All you need is an ethernet cable.

Sure - It's more difficult but it's damn cheaper.

    An ethernet cable won't help.

    Yes it will.

I am doing it with 3 right now, and it works flawlessly.

At first it is very very very.. Difficult to set up, but once it is, it comes on automatically as you start up the PS3 :)

It's the same for O2, I have heard of people on the O2 forums that it's working for them.

You need a PC betweeen the USB Dongle and the PS3, then it's very easy with an ethernet cable. In Windows XP or higher or any Linux. NT 4.0 & Win2K doesn't have the GUI Bridging in Network Panel. Not hard at all.

But with JUST and ethernet cable & USB modem and PS3 is impossible.

And I've heard from people who have tried and failed. ICS can be a pain to get working properly, especially for people who don't really know what they're doing.

Also, sharing your broadband over an unsecured ad-hoc wireless link could leave you open to exploitation. It's unlikely, but still a risk.
edit: Actually, that would only happen if you were using the PS3's WIFI connection to your PC, Ethernet obviously wouldn't have that drawback. Need sugar to wake up...

If the expresso is good, strong, fresh and large you won't care about sugar.
