Where to get a track wheel with longer axle?

I bought the Ambrosio wheel from Dalys, but the axle is too short for my rear dropout (it's 126mm). They tried replacing it, but it's some weird type of axle with built-in cones, or something, and they only come in that length. So I'm back to square one. I need the longer axle because the frame is carbon and I've been advised not to pinch the rear stays.

    Any ideas?

    I don't want to spend a fortune on one - around €80.

I potentially have one spare at home you're welcome to have. I got it from velosolo.co.uk. Drop me a PM if you're interested

I'm talking about an axle, it should work -we can try if you want to bring your wheel round :)

Could you just use some spacers?

Out of interest, what frame are you using?

It's carbon and 130mm spaced, right? So does it have horizontal dropouts? Very unusual beast if it does?

    Just a thought:
You may be able to make up the mm you need by using chain tugs on the inside of the drop outs... they're intended for track ends but might give you the 4mm you need if you can get them to work with the drop outs on your bike.

It's a Look with horizontal drop outs.

The story is that the rear spacing is 126mm, the external spacing (spacing on the outside of the rear stays is about 140mm. I don't know the axle lengths, but there isn't enough axle for all the threads of the nuts to make contact with.

So I need a longer axle. But, as I understand it, the Ambrosio hubs use 'sealed bearings', whatever that is, so the axle is 'stepped'.

It's a headache. Daly's said they'll get back to me on Monday. Do you think your suggestion would work?

From what you tell me now, no it won't. I thought the issue was that the dropouts were too far apart, not that they are too thick. If anything spacers or tugs would make the problem worse. Right?

Replacing the axle on a hub with sealed bearings isn't hard but it requires specialized equipment to do without damaging the bearings. Daly's may be able to help.

How much thread is protruding form the dropout face when the hub is in?

Yeah, Dalys are figuring something out, problem is they haven't yet found a longer axle that will work with this hub. So they're also looking at other options.

Funny enough, this is the main reason I'd shop locally, having this hassle, alongside the waiting period while it's being shipped would kill me!
