    ORDINARY LEVEL

Anyone else write down their answers on their question sheet and bring it home?

It would be interesting to see answers/solutions to get an idea of how well we done...

To be hoenst, many people say that you shouldnt look up the answers as if you ****ed up, it will piss you off. Id just wait till the results in August, whats done is done.

    You got 1c wrong.

Interest was 4.8% no real issue cause you probably got some maths down so most of the points. I know its useless advice now, but in fairness no bank offers 20% interest... Lol

Oh sorry question 2 part b. The last bit on indices

    3^-9 = 1/729.... I know its awkward as hell.

haha ya i knew 20% sound wrong ha well i am just hoping to pass so i am not overly worried.

yeh don't have it here but think it was:
    4x + x = 45
    x= 9

    then continue on..
    6 x 3 = 18

is there a square root key on the keyboard??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 945 ✭✭✭CaoimH_in

    on that question I thought.

    rectangle length is 2(square root)X
    and width is 1(square root)X

to find the area of the rectangle its L x W so...

    2(square root)X x 1(square root)X which is 2(square root)X(to be squared) which cancels to 2x.

Area of a square is double that of the triangle so 2x x 2 = 4x
area is 4x so to find the length of a side its (suqare root of)4x

    right? wrong?

for tax credit do you take the tax credit away from the wages *before* you calculate tax, and then add it on at the end.. or do you calculate the tax on al of the wages and then take the tax credit away from the tax???

wrong, you split the rectangle in half diagonally so that you get 2 right angled triangles. You then use Pythaggorous to find out x, and use the area formula of a triangle and multiply it by 2.
    I got 18cm². And 6cm for part 2.

but the question was algerbra? You are probably right, but there was a question similar to this a few years back and it wasn't finding x or a natural number, so I assumed tbh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 945 ✭✭✭CaoimH_in

that and it didn't say as at natural number, poor question tbh

that's what I got too. Q was poorly worded I think.

I did what you did by splitting it but I went to my grinds teacher afterwards and she said that the 2x thing was right!

I think the question was terribly phrased, they might have to give marks for both answers!

Yeah they'll have no option other than to take both as right answers, since they didnt even specify
