External Insulation - a DIY job?

Hi, just wondering your views on diy external insulation for a new build. It seems the insulation part would be straightforward with some TLC but what about the plaster/ render.

Have any of you done this or considered it? If so what
sort of savings would be made on a 140mm diy insulation job?
Usual cost now is about 100 euro/m2 for a professional job.

have you checked whether the product warrantee is negated by DIY installation??

i do know that courses are held quite regularly (1-2 days) to train installers... .and theres not much involved in this installation.

Be careful . The certificates I have seen are conditional on who installs the system . There are health and safety risk implications too . Working off scaffolding is not for everyone .

The brother just got his house done by a professional outfit - €9K for a large 4 bed semi detached place, grant will cover €4K of that.

It's taken 2 weeks by a crew of 3-5men to scaffold, insulate, and render so in my eyes it's not really a DIY job. As others have said - you also have the warranty issue.

But, as you say - attaching the insulation is not a skilled job

I would not recommend DIY Plastering/Rendering. A bad job really takes from a house. Worth while, if possible, getting a pro.
