This question comes up every few weeks on here.

Try searching for the thread "Questions to ask", should find a lot of answers to your questions there :)

Some hotel are offering free corkage or at a reduced rate.
Wine in hotels is usually more expensive ,so bringing in your own wine should work out better.

we've got a great deal on ours.we're having a saturday wedding with free corkage on wine and champagne. got our meal down from 31 euro what we originally signed for down to 25 per head!!!! free centre pieces free bar extension and reduced price on chair covers(seperate company not the hotels)
    think we did well enough!!

Yeah, we got ther free corkage as well, seems to be a common one to give at the moment. My major concern at the moment would be that hotels would go out of business before weddings, saw something a couple of weeks ago about 2 hotels closing every week... scary.

It's getting more and more common for hotels to provide free corkage. There's always great margin on food and if their keen enough for your business they should be happy to let up on a few things.

My sister-in-law is getting married soon in Kinsale and she didn't have to bargain hard for free corkage, however, my brother is getting married next year up north and because they have so many bookings, they don't need to budge on anything.

You'll find a middle ground I'm sure. Also, expect discounts on bulk orders from your wine merchant.
