Not too clued up on WRX used prices but just by looking at asking prices on carzone for similar cars it seems a bit expensive to me. Are you sure it is not an STi?

There are cheaper WRXs of similar vintage for sale:

Given that these cars have higher than average running costs making them less popular especially in the current economic climate, dealers should be keen to offload them especially if there is no trade-in concerned. As always shop around to see if you are really getting a good deal.

Standard WRX are a bit weak power wise for the trouble they can give imo.227bhp and 0-60 just under 6 secs isnt that special these days! You can get 1.4 turbo Golf's with auto box's close to those figures :pac:

I didn't know they gave much trouble. Thanks for heads up. What kind of trouble???

OP did you look at the Ford Focus ST?

Seriously good value used now and the 5 cylinder turbo engine is sweet:

That looks like a savage car bazz. Wonder how much i could get off that price again. Would that come under the new tax bracket do ya know??? Would you recommend that or impreza. Looks like theres more extras in st focus

I wouldnt say you'll get much more off the price of that Focus - at 20k its a cheap motor! Might get it for 19k cash with no trade in.

They are a crackin car to drive too. I'm thinking of dabbling with a 02 ST170. Not the same i know, but still a very competent car for the money being asked.

Whats bhp of the st, wonder would it kill me trying to run it. How much would that car usually cost? Is it a very good saving what their selling it for at the moment. (thanks for patience with all the questions)

    ST has 225bhp as standard.

Fuel wise it's heavy enough. Mid 20's mpg? Service wise it's good compared to Scoobies etc.

I would guess that a Focus ST would be no more expensive to run than a Scooby.

It'll be a good bit less expensive I reckon. Servicing in particular.

I wouldn't like ta see the price of that rs. Can ya imagine trying to run it. Have you drivin the st bazz or seen it up close. It'll be next week before i get a chance to get to see that st you posted up.... If i get it id cd hanging onto it dmr atleast 3 or 4 years so just wonderin what kind bells and whistles it comes with and what you personally thought of the car

    RS costs around €50k afaik.

Have seen a few STs but never actually had the pleasure of driving one. The growl from the 5 cylinder engine is like music to the ears though. Had a bog standard Focus up to recently and it drove very well so can imagine the ST won't disappoint. ;)

Talk to Henry Ford III though he had an ST for a while. Someone else on here had/has one too, SneakyST I think is his name.

    Hi DJ
As mentioned I had an ST (sold it as moving to uk but will be buying another), but its a great motor and would take one over a scooby. There are some good bargains out there. The engine noise is great
Options: If you go for the a car with leather then the car is a four seater so just be aware of that (it would be rare for the cloth seats to have the rear bucket seat option). Mine had leather(heated), sony cd/bluetooth/mp3 player, auto lights/mirrors, ESP and a few others.

Running costs : Service intervals same as normal focus and same price roughly, 26-28MPG on a good motorway run, 19-21 around town. Tyres - fronts will wear quicker maybe 5-6k if you are tough on them.

Perfomance - standard guise 6.8 (225ps) - loads of upgrades available - Ford approved Mountune kit for about 2k will see that drop to 5.9 (260ps) and anything above 300ps from GGR or Wolf should see you good for 5.1-5.2's.However its the in gear times where it matters in the real world and the ST in the Mountune etc will surprise most things on the road. Its a great road car but dont expect it to be great on the track as it wouldnt have a stiff chassis such as the RS or the Megane R26 R for example.
If you go look at one and decided to buy PM me and I will send you a snag list.
