Does anyone know of the best use for spectacles, vision aids (magnifiers etc) and hearing aids that are no longer needed?

If you mean where to recycle them, I believe that Specsaves have collections for glasses them in their shops. The others probably couldn't find a second use.

Opticians usually take parts out of old spectacles for re-use but many of them wind up in the landfill. Recently, charities have been established with the aim of helping people in third world countries who have sight problems. One such charity is Vision Aid Overseas

It is a UK-based company, but as far as I know some opticians in Ireland co-operate with them. My local Speccies in Ennis do anyway. Ask your local opticians if they donate to Vision Aid Overseas or another such charity.

As for your hearing aid, you can return it to your hearing specialist or donate it to a charity for people who can't afford new ones.
