    Hi Folks.

I am getting married in September, and I am wondering about Honeymoon ideas.

I have holidayed in the south of France and Spain several times, and would really like to do a Med based holiday. Approx 2 - 3 weeks longs.

Are cruises suitable for early thirty newly weds :pac:.

I like my comfort but also love the rusticness the Med has to offer.`
I would not be happy with a bar and "bar band" every night.

Can anyone confirm or dispell the "blue rinse brigade" myth. :P

I would love to see as many med based countires as possible.
However I have heard that on cruises it "off in the morning, back on in the evening". I think places usually deserve a bit more than a few hours.

Also, would anyone have any alternative ideas or stories of friends etc that did their own thing in that region?

    Any info gladly welcome.

    Thanks in advance Folks.

    Hiya

We're planning on going on a cruise on our honeymoon and it's actually a very popular option for loads of young couples.

We're going on a Caribbean cruise and there seems to be LOADS of stuff to do. At each stop there's lots of activities like watersports , swimming with dolphins, tours of cities and just relaxing at beaches.

I'd recommend you check out this website http://www.cruiseholidays.ie/
You can even see the ships and all the amenities they have on board before you book.

A Med cruise for two or three weeks sounds absolutely heavenly!

I did a cruise in Eastern Caribbean about 6 years ago, when in my early 30s. I was a bit sceptical because I thought it was going to be full of old people. But we ended up (with my boyfriend at the time) dodging kids all the time.

Check out exactly what type of cruise you're getting. Is it for couples only, or for families (I would avoid the Disney type cruise for a honeymoon)?

I found the cruise an excellent way to travel but you can't change the program, so again: shop around for the best itinerary for you.

You are of course managing the excursions as you wish. You can stay on board by the pool and bar as much as you want while others are struggling to climb the greek ruins...

One important thing to find out when you book is what exactly is included in the price you pay. Usually the initial price includes all your food (watch out for the extra kilos or should I say stones!!), but it usually doesn't include the drinks, the excursions and the tips you pay at the end for your concierge and waiters.
Check out the prices really well as it is easy to spend three or four times more than what you paid to book. We were stung by the bill at the end of one week, so I can imagine the effect of a huge bill after 3 weeks cruising...

All this said, I am dreaming of a cruise in the Med. That sounds absolutely fantastic, and especially for a honeymoon. Apparently you are wrecked for a few days (weeks!) after the wedding. So a cruise sounds like the way to go.

I am also dreaming of a cruise from the East Coast of the US to the West Coast, through the Panama Canal... Ah! I hope I can do that before retirement because I still have some 35 odd years to work... When you cruise: budget is crucial :)

    Hiya Oldascoil,

We did a Med cruise last Summer in July (not as a honeymoon). It was our second cruise. We are in our late 20's and I must say it was fantastic!!I would recommend it very highly especially as a honeymoon. We went with a cruise line called Norweigan Cruises and we couldn't fault anything. It had a real mix of age groups although mostly young families or couples. There was different entertainment every night, whether it was a show in the theatre or a cover band in the night club. We left from Barcelona and stopped in 5 different locations including Malta, Rome, Naples, Nice and Pisa. I know they have a range of med cruises that do different stops so you should find something to suit ye. Also I would check out www.bestpricecruises.com when booking your cruise!
Hope ye find what ye're looking for!
