The Flood

Seeing as this forum is also about battling "supernatural" beings I wanted to post this topic. The Flood, as anyone who plays Halo knows, are quite similar to zombies. For example, they
1. Increase their numbers by infecting people.
However there are some vital differences that separate them from zombies.
1.Fire = Very effective
2.Are as fast/faster than humans
3.Have the ability to use weapon i.e firearms
4.In extreme cases, have the ability to change their body shape.
These are just a few differences between the Flood and Zombies. However one of the major differences between them in the way they infect people. Zombies infect via biting. The Flood can infect in two ways.
1.Flood sporelings burrow through your skin and into your brain, from where they control your body like a puppet.
2.They can re-animate dead people by doing the same thing.

The first image is that of the infection form.This form (as the name suggests) is the form that infects people.
The second is a picture of the carrier form. This carries multiple infection forms and when the carrier is close to enemies, it explodes, releasing the contained infection forms.
The third image is that of the combat form. This is what we would encounter most in the case of a planetary infection, as these forms would be derived from humans. They have the ability to use firearms and can jump extremely high.
The next three images depict pure forms. These forms are made entirely of flood biomass and are not created by infecting humans. They may change between these forms at any time.
The final image is that of the Gravemind. It is the leader of the flood and is considered to be omniscient(knows all). It has this ability as it is made up of the remains of destroyed flood and enemies. When it absorbs biomass, it takes any intelligence from what it just absorbed. This allows it to have great knowledge.
