Are you still allowed to run onto the pitch after matches in Thomond? you are in musgrave anyway.

take for example last match of the ML munster v ospreys waiting to present the trophy all the scum racing around the pitch thinking they were awesome while everyone else had to wait 20 mins for the pitch to clear (the guards had to come on) to see the team get the trophy....

    Because it's what children do.

Was at that game in Thomond. It was a pathetic attempt really by the ground stewards at keeping the crowd in the terraces, they didnt really even try to keep them in at first and just let them rampage over that weak looking fencing. Had to sit in the cold stands then and watch the gards try and chase the young lads out. Funny stuff but leave that for GAA games.

Yeah Chupa, the stewards barely tried. Was some fisticuffs at the north terrace also. :o

We (10 of us) went onto the pitch after the trophy presentation and had good craic.

I lol'd when I first saw the green fence, I said to the lads: "This is never going to work".

That's why the lap of honour and the the photo shoots at the Sth West end of the field had to be cut short, the poor spectators on the Nth end of the field hardly saw the trophy because after half a lap the team made their way to the dressing rooms.

Pitch invasions on a normal night are acceptable but the one nite for the team, squad, management and families and some of the spectators couldn't what they were asked to do, not to go onto the pitch.

Not really ,its something I associate with soccer fans. You could see some of the Munster players were visably pissed with the kids and others on the pitch.

Luke Fitzgerald helped a Leinster fan escaped stewards in Murrayfield.

It's one of those things that depends on context. Sometimes it rawks, sometimes it's a bit of a pain.

The scum do it during a match. I don't see that big of a problem after the match on a normal matchday. Finals are different. When Munster win the Magners League everyone should be able to see them celebrate.

You have to think of all the people in special seating and respect their wishes as well as everybody elses.

    Common sense normally prevails thankfully.

As much as some people like doing it, it was a complete and utter nightmare for us photographers at the game. The lads put their cases and gear in the North East corner but some inconsiderate fools decided to try and jump the netting and the gear only for one to land smack bang on top of €12000 worth of gear. Also when trying to get shots that we were told to get, some little ****s decided to try and push us out of the way and ruin our days work.

I thought it was a bit of disgrace alright. I was in the north terrace and saw the stewards with a net and there were holding it out instead of up, wtf like? that was really dumb. Cuz of all the tools that ran onto the pitch i didn't get to see the hold presentation of the trophy cuz i had to head off for the train. Stewards that night were completely useless

I apologise for anyone who ever broke camera gear. and i promise that if i ever invade a pitch again i will look out for camera gear

I was there that night and found it quite funny, the nets were never going to do against a pile of young un's.

Didn't think it delayed things too much as the guys were building the stage anyway. Kids will be kids, nothing a few snipers won't solve next time around :p

It's a despicably practice that should be consigned to the past. It's very noticeable that it's the scum who are most prevalent in these pitch invasions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 120 ✭✭tughfc

its stopped because theres so much trouble in keeping the pitches in good condition! nothing funnier though then watching willie john mcbride scull some supporter out of the way after one of the test matches against south africa in 74!

Snuck him out from under the reaches of a steward. At least that's what it looked like in the stands.

Think that was a relative, they went into the section of the crowd where some of the players families were sitting
