I recently imported a small van (2 seats) and went to bring it for a DOE, but was told that I needed to have it weighed.

Is this true or just for this garage, cant find any info on the net about this.

Yep all vans must be weighed on first registration. Make sure its a council approved weigh bridge that you use.

Slightly OT but I wonder if you filled a larger van with a giant helium balloon would you be able to get it classed differently? :D

your better off with it being heavier, if it weighs over 2.4 tonnes the vrt is only 50 euro

From your motor tax office. They have it on a leaflet.

I had to get mine weighed twice as the first weighstation wasnt an approved one. So im not so sure about just brining it down to roadstone.

    Costs about 20 euro.
