    Hi,

My car (02 Corolla) is currently in the garage, brake calipers being fitted tomorrow or Friday.
Any ball park figure of how much this might cost? I asked garage man and he just said 'could be expensive'....which could mean anything but I'm thinking it'll be up around the 500/600 mark anyway will it?

I'm in Galway, not a main dealer if that's any more help.

    Thanks.

Fitting is simple. I can't comment on how much anyone would mark up the parts however, or how much labour they'd charge and a what rate.

    Ask for a firm figure.

This is a simple DIY job . I did my S2000 (all 4) on axle stands in less than an hour. They were off for a refurb and paint.

Then just add brake fluid and bleed.

I would hope that they would not fleece you more than 2 hours labour but this is Ireland so you are probably gonna be shafted

I'd bank on at least €125ish a caliper plus labour.

Thanks for replies. Doing it myself not an option, dont have the space or time or knowledge sadly.
Am a bit freaked now cos one of the guys I work with said he had to pay 1,500 to get 2 calipers replaced on his mazda last year - I'll cry if it costs that much :(

I have found that brake calipers (even reconditioned ones) for Japanese cars tend to be expensive. You might be looking at 200+ quid per caliper. Has there been any mention of fixing the existing calipers by fitting new seals etc. If it's possible to go down this route you'd probably pay a bit more for labour but far less for parts.

Have a look for caliper and seal kits on ebay uk and google. Try ebay Uk seller "Big Redd", they are caliper specialists.

Update: €400 it cost me, with only 30 euro + VAT being labour. Part was 290 + VAT.
That had better be it for car repair bills for quite a while for me :(

    Thanks for all replies/help.

    Was it just one caliper?

You jacked a car, put it on axle stands, removed 4 wheels and 4 calipers refurbished and painted the calipers refitted calipers, refitted brake pads and bled brakes in under an hour:eek:
