    Heya,

Am heading to Cork next week for a weeks work and will have plenty of time to myself. Was hoping to purchase a Tri wetsuit while down there. Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to a wetsuit shop?? Usually cycle shops with a side for triathlons!!

Also, can anyone recommend any good spots down in Cork for open water swimming??

    Much obliged!

The Edge Sports on North Main Street specialise in running cycling and triathlon. Very friendly and helpful staff too.

If you are looking to get a good quality beginners wetsuit, Wiggle have a really good Orca one for men or women and they are only €110, if you wanted to order online!

I love swimming at Sandycove in Kinsale. It's 400m out and back to the Island and 1500m around the island. If you pm me your email address I can send you the timetable (when people will be there and HT's). Closer to the city, you'll often find people swimming at iniscarra damn. It's lovely early in the summer also. A third option is to get into the Lee at the lee fields. Convenient but not so nice as the other options. Always try to swim in groups for safety.

aha, I'd forgotten about being able to attach documents. Timetable for Sandycove is attached. The dam is a more casual affair. I know groups who generally go out about 7 on Thursdays and Tuesdays but it's not formal afaik.

Thanks for that, is it just a matter of showing up and diving in??

At Sandycove, pretty much yes. You can swim there anytime but you'll have to walk a bit at low tide. You've out of sight at the back of the island so better to be with others which is why the timetable is so useful. Generally, the group will stop at the first corner and the last corner to regroup, the last bit back to the pier is a free for all. If Mike is there, there will be tea and bikkies afterwards. There are BBQ's a couple of times a year as well. Most people do 1 or sometimes 2 laps, some of the people preparing for long swims will do several hours swimming and it's always nice to be able to give them some company for a while.
