neck a bit sore

I've gotten back into swimming a bit since a couple of years off... Today I did 550m front crawl but after about 350m or so my neck was getting a little sore. I was trying to watch my technique but I'm not really sure where I was going wrong. I did feel heavy in the water though - by which I mean I was finding it hard to get power out of my shoulders. Could this slight hunching be doing it? (I know it's dificult to say without seeing my stroke but I"m really just wondering if anyone knew of anything that would make your neck sore after f/c)
