IR Photography - am I doing it wrong ?

    Hi,

I got a Hoya IR filter last week (R72 I think) and was out on Friday trying to use it. I got a couple of shots (one facing sort of into the sun and the other facing away from it) and in both there is a big ugly bright spot in the middle of the picture, rendering the pictures pretty useless. I was using a Canon 50mm f1.4. (will post samples later tonight).

Anyone ever see this kind of thing? Is there a way to avoid it ?

    Thanks
    Paul

There are some lenses that will produce a hot spot.
    Sheck out this link:

50mm f/1.8 judging by your flickr ? That's recommended. OP is using a f/1.4 which is a known culprit :)
