I don't see the need for spoiler tags since it says spoilers in the thread title.

Here's a more detailed SD report:
SmackDown! Opener: Cutting Edge with Jeff Hardy

WWE SmackDown! open with a "Cutting Edge" segment. Edge is hosting his in-ring talk show with special guest Jeff Hardy. There are several ladders in the ring. Jeff gets a big reaction from the crowd. He climbs to the top of one of the ladders and tells Edge if he wants to talk to him, he has to do it on top of a ladder. Edge slowly climbs the ladder while saying no matter how high Jeff climbs, he'll knock him back down. With that said, Edge pushes Jeff off the ladder and onto the ground below.

    Shelton Benjamin vs. John Morrison

Benjamin's music hits and he's coming out for a match. John Morrison's music hits and he'll be Benjamin's opponent for this one-on-one match. Very good match with lots of cool moves from both guys. Finish saw Morrison getting the pinfall victory after connecting with the starship pain move.

    Winner: John Morrison

    Chris Jericho vs. R-Truth

Chris Jericho's music hits and out he comes for an in-ring promo. Jericho talks about how he is going to expose Rey Mysterio. R-Truth's music hits and out he comes. R-Truth calls Jericho a hypocrite. He asks if Jericho thinks he's a thug and tells him things are going to get bad and that's the truth. Apparently this was prelude to a match as the bell sounds to start things off. Short match with Jericho getting the win via the codebreaker.

    Winner: Chris Jericho

After The Match: Rey Mysterio Attacks

After the match, Jericho was celebrating and out came Rey Mysterio. Mysterio went on the attack with Jericho, who took some brief punishment before running off to the back.

    CM Punk vs. Umaga

CM Punk's music hits. Out comes Umaga. We're going to have a one-on-one match with these two I guess. Punk gets the win with the "go to sleep".

    Winner: CM Punk

-Todd Grisham and Jim Ross run down all the matches for Sunday's WWE "Extreme Rules" pay-per view.

    6-Diva Tag Match:
-Candice Michelle, Layla & Alicia Fox vs. Gail Kim, Melina & Eve

Candice Michelle made her return tonight despite posting on Twitter that she'd be back in July. Typical Diva-cluster with the finish coming when Layla got the pinfall victory over Melina.

Winners: Candice Michelle, Layla & Alicia Fox

The Great Khali vs. Dolph Ziggler

Quick match, basically a squash match. Finish came when Great Khali hit the chokeslam on Ziggler for the pinfall victory.

    Winner: The Great Khali

-John Cena is shown on the big screen to a huge ovation from the crowd.

    Edge vs. Rey Mysterio

Decent match. Finish came when Edge got the pinfall victory with the spear.

    Winner: Edge

After The Match: Edge Attacks; Jeff Hardy

After winning the match, Edge tries to attack Mysterio some more with the ladder. Jeff Hardy hits the ring to make the save. Edge runs off and the two stare each other down as the show ends.

I've only seen ECW, so I'm avoiding the SD spoilers til Friday.

    Thoughts:
    Finlay's eye looked stoopid

    I couldn't understand Katie-Lea

Whats wrong with being known as the woo WOO wooo guy? I don't like this more serious direction.

    Christian v Kidd was awesome.

Sums up exactly what I thought too.

As for Smackdown, what's the point in Punk/Umaga right before the PPV? Besides that it looks a treat once more. Looking forward to Shelton v JoMo again.

Smackdown should be the flagship show.

    simple as that.

    Another Great Smackdown.

Just read the spoilers after watching the show and they didn't do the Smackdown any justice at all. It was far better than what appeared.

Strong start with the Cutting Edge. Good promotion of the ladder match.

Some good matches. CM Punk v Umaga was very good, Both Guys can really Benefit from this Feud. Punk got a nice response throughout the match. Umaga has come back very strong Post Injury.

I think Dolph has a great chance, he got a nice match out of Khali, so deserves praise.

Jo Mo's climb continues. I'm a pit pissed off seeing Shelton perform so well each week and end up losing but I should be used to it.

If someone told me before I watched the show that Jericho would take on Truth I wouldn't have had much Interest. But the interaction between the two pre match created interest for extreme rules Jericho v Rey and Truth v Jericho. Truth standing up to Y2J and putting up a good showing in the match means he actually gained respect while losing.

Thats my Favourite thing about Smackdown, By having guys go out and really compete they all look good, no matter who wins or who loses.

Edge Rey was another match full of competition. They both put on a good performance. I really don't get why some people are anti Rey as he has adapted very well to the limitations his injuries have put on him.

It's a pity they're trapped on that godforsaken network. Then it would nearly have a chance of being so.

    Indeed.

I think he's getting into the grove of being a face now though. Shelton and he are really putting on some solid matches.

Are we likely to see more talking from Jo Mo soon though? He's solid on the mic.

I don't think hes that great on the mic to be honest. His voice annoys me as well, he sounds like a young fella who's voice is in the process of breaking.

looking back on my post I really should've said will we hear more talking rather than see!

I dunno, I thought the Dirt Sheet was very good. Yeah he wasn't as comfortable as the Miz but he had some really funny lines in it at the same time. But to be taken seriously as main eventer, surely he needs to be charismatic on the mic?

He's improving on the mic, think he's rather good in this interview http://gamingring.com/news/?p=5166

That's the one problem I have with him, there's somethign about his voice that would wreck your head. Hope he works on it too, I really like him and hope he does well for himself. Enjoyed the match with Shelton on Smackdown.

As for ECW, Christian and Tyson Kidd was brilliant, Kidd has been BRILLIANT since being called up, I hope the Hart Dynasty really takes off. I could see Kidd's size holding him back, but every now and then there is someone who gets by being small, ya'd never know. Fingers crossed

I went out of my way to see this match on the recommendation of a few people and boy, was I not disappointed. Kidd is REALLY good and when did Christian get so good? Hes been great in-ring since he came back, really stepped it up a notch.

True, remember when people were wicked upset that he returned on ECW? By god has he made the most of it, I've no problem with him being there. His fued with Swagger has been brilliant, and the matches have really lived up to the fued itself.

Tyson Kidd - Evan Bourne, wouldn't that be some fued? There's so much potential on ECW these days.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,520 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

I would like to join the Tyson Kidd Appreciation club.

He has performed brilliantly since appearing on ECW. I think he was very lucky to be called up to ECW. The other brands may not have given him the tv time he is getting on ECW to showcase his talents. The Hart Trilogy guarantees him TV time which is another bonus.

I love his version of the Elbow drop. Using the springboard off the ropes makes it into something better than a simple jump from the top corner. He also performed a nice leg drop this week which i hope he sticks with.

I really like the way he mixes the high risk moves with holds and strikes. It gives his matches plenty of variety.

Whoever would have thought that WWE's version of ECW would be the best wrestling show on TV today? Mies better than ROH even these days.

Agreed on Kidd/Bourne. Book it Vince.
