If it's a goldfish it looks to be a hybrid. Doesn't look like any of the types of goldfish I'm familiar with but rather has aspects of a few different types.

    It's cold water, yes?

    It is a Parrot fish.
They are a man made hybrid and a complete monstrocity.
Most of the poor buggers end up being dyed. They have problems eating and swimming. Their spines are curved so it puts pressure on the swimbladder and hinders swimming. Because of the inbreeding and stress caused by dying most suffer from ill health.
IMO and most Fishkeepers Opinion they should be banned.
If people keep buying them the demand is still there for them to be bred. Avoid is possible.

Ah!! I knew I had seen it before. The scales didn't look right for a goldfish.

That's awful, how could awareness about this be raised?

Thanks to the LFKS and the MFKA most of the shops here don`t sell them
anymore. We have tried to get dyed fish banned. Unfortunately some greedy retailers still stock them but most self respecting fish keepers don`t buy from these shops.
The best way to help is to point them out to the retails and say you are taking your business else where.
Also, if the demand ceases they won`t be stocked any more.

go to www.irishfishforum.com and ask for more info regarding dyed fish.
