Having only converted recently from VCR to HDD/DVD recorder I am disappointed that I cannot watch one programme and record another when using Feeview.
I have a Sky box decoder. If I bought a twin tuner HD recorder from the UK (on EBay) would I then be able to do this, or am I missing something?

You need something like sky + or Humax foxsat HDR with two cables coming from the dish using a quad lnb on the dish

I am looking to replace my vcr with a digital recorder. At the moment I am using it to record terestrial signal and signal from my sat box.

Do any recorders exist for DTT, they don't have to have a twin tuner. I would also like one that would have a scart i/p so I can record the signal from a spare sat box that I have.

    Thks in advance.

DTT is not released yet - So no, not really.

There will be if you can hold off for about 6 months.

As for sat, there is the Humax Freesat PVR which will record one channel while allowing you to watch another. But it only works with the Freesat EPG, not the Sky one.. meaning you lose a couple of channels.

So, returning to the original question - how are UK users able to direct record using twin tuner recorders but we cannot in Ireland?

if you have the Freesat PVR.. you can.

Also.. You can get a PVR ready recorder (Technomate, Passion ect, ect) for BBC HD plus an HDD but you have to set timers just like we did in the old days.

You could get a DVD/HDD recorder, which is the modern equivalent of a VCR, and connect the Sat receiver to that to record from it (as it won't have its own internal EPG tuner), but you won't be able to record in HD I'm afraid, it will only record in SD. And you'll still only be able to watch what you're recording, not record one thing while watching another.
