What would be an acceptable item to give her? I was thinking about a €2 coin....

We swopped silver bullion and a gold coin but that was just us - it is not a necessary part of the ceremony in any case. It does have to be actual silver by the way.

I know, it'd be taking away from the ring if I were to buy another piece of jewellry - just looking for inspiration for something else!

You can buy (unsurprisingly) wedding coins. It might be nice to surprise her with something though.

We used a silver Dollar I'd been given as a kid from a family friend, my mom gave it to her to give to me on the alter without me knowing. Recognised it immediatly. (I may have mislaid it since)

We got silver coins from Tower jewlers, only around 30 each. We have them saved for our own children to use when they marry.

Yes you use wedding coins! never heard of anyone giving actual gifts.

at a friends wedding late last year they forgot the coins and DURING THE CEREMONY the best man had to rummage around in his pocket. They used a €2 coin! There were alot of jokes at the reception after about how the bride was only worth €2!

its a choice, its not something you have to do

It also doesn't have to be gold and silver, I've been to a few weddings where the wording was 'take this gift as a token of all I possess' so you could use wedding coins, or whatever you want. I've seen 'wedding tokens' in a lot of jewellers and gift shops, so have a look there and see if anything catches your eye.
