    OK so Ras is over

What's the next big one on domestic calendar - National Champs in Dunboyne?

Isn't it mostly flat there or is there a decent climb on the circuit?

Who will win it? Daniel Martin must be hot favorite ??!!

    Anyone else in the running?

Isn't it round 7 of the XC National Points Series on June 14th?

I've stuck up the press release on www.thebike.ie - from reading that i've done out a route map of the course, it does look lumpy enough for someone to try break it up over a number of laps. I'm going to be tipping a complete dark horse in Sam Bennett.

I don't think it suits Martin this year. Roche will be the hot favourite and only a fool would rule out David O'Loughlin. Kenneally will feature if he decides to do the race (he only enters if he is going well, so he usually finishes top 3 or 4). I would be inclined to agree with Junior though and go for Sam Bennett. He was top 10 in most stages of the RAS and is targetting the race, holding off on leaving for France until after the champs, looking at him the other night it looks like he is tapering off a bit after the RAS and is preparing correctly for the champs, but thats no surprise as he has a good coach behind him. I reckon he is going to damage a few ego's....

I'll be predictable and go for Roche, but I'd be thrilled to see Bennett win.

If it comes down to a group sprint Roche, Kenneally, Healion and Bennet all have a chance. DOL will have to get way in a small group or solo which he is well capable of. Looks fairly open this tear TBH with a relatively flat course

I'd like either of them to take it. It's nice seeing the national champion ride in the big races in Europe, but it would also be great to see an exciting prospect like Bennett win.

I was in with him on Monday there in Carrick doing an interview for the site, and his own words "I'm not looking at the U-23 Race, I'm just going to race the race itself and try win"

He's taken a week off after the Rás and he's looking to build back up for going to VC La Pomme. That's happening in July, so they are happening at the right time for him, although Martin, Deignan and Roche will be in top form for the Tour as well.
