    hey guys,
not sure if this is the right forum to use (if its not mods please move me :P )

I have a new pc. A compaq pc and its less than two weeks old. But a few days ago the USB ports (all of them) have suddenly stopped working.
I've searched the internet for help with no joy. Its unusal cause I read alot of going into the device manager then Expanding the "usb serial bus controllers" - but i dont actually see that in the device manager :S

    any help?

Sounds like faulty controller, but you could try reinstall it from original driver disks if you have them, or you can get the driver off their website

i put in 2 usb ports (that i got when i bought an external dvd drive years back .. the slot in type to your pc)

    .. still nothing.

i have a compaq pc. what would the drivers be named?

If you reinstalled it's probably the controller is fu**ed, you could try the website and search for drivers by your PC model number, then download the latest chipset driver and if there is a seperate USB driver install that also, if it doesn't work after that, it's a problem on the motherboard which generally can't be fixed, but if it's still under warranty hp/compaq should replace it
