Dell laptop won't boot

    Well, who'd ever thought a laptop would crash! I have a 1 year old dell 830 laptop. Damn thing wont boot now - tried to boot safe mode, tried boot from the OS disk, but never completes boot. Just goes to black screen and hangs or restarts.

    The real problem is I never registered ownership when I bought it and I can't contact the person I bought it off, so I cant avail of the warranty. So, is there any way around the warranty issue? Does anyone recognise how I might get this to boot?

    Have you harddrive activity? can you hear it spinning up?

    Its booting but not going into the OS?

    IF thats the case I would reformat and reinstall an OS.
