    Hello,

I busted two spokes on my rear wheel with my heel clipping out of my new pedals this morning (first time user). It's the first time i've done this and i've had no cause to replace a wheel before so looking for some advice.

I'm on a Giant OCR 2 using the Shimano R500 20/24H wheelset. I looks like they are no longer sold so hoping somone can advise me what to replace with and if I should replace both wheels? My usage is mainly commuting (20k round trip) and the odd weekend spin.

    Thanks.

To all boardsie cyclists ... please do not ban me for saying this ....

But why do you want to buy new wheels for broken spokes if the wheels themselves are not giving you any trouble. Cheapest wheels will probably set you back 70 euros ... you could get the spokes replaced for 15 euros in any bike shop.

If you want to spend some money, let us know and I am sure people will oblige you with more options than Chinese in China.

Try getting the spokes replaced. If you want decent wheels, Mavic Aksiums are around €150 for a set in Wheelworx. I presume other shops are similar in price.

Thanks Lads, I didn't know I could get the spokes fixed :). The Giant hasn't given me an ounce of trouble of the last two years so I'm only learning the maintenance ropes. The wheel has been left in and will be ready for the weekend.
