Does anyone else get this? It usually only happens only the odd time with me but the last 3 runs I've done they've just felt like my shoulders were carrying arms that were twice their normal weight. My shoulders muscles were actually more tired than my leg muscles. I'm a relative noob to running, is this normal?

You have to relax your shoulders, drop them while your running and dont let them get tense and creep up towards your ears.

Its pretty common I think (used to happen to me all the time when I started) but its definitely not right.

You should focus on keeping your face relaxed too. Look at any good runners and even when they are going full tonk they are incredibly relaxed with low shoulders and their jaws bouncing all over the place.:D

A great tip to help relax the shoulders when running is to gently rub the thumb and forefingers together- try it out!

great to hear I'm not the only one that happens to - I find that some shoulder rolls and swinging my arms around for a minute or so before I run helps as well, and like everyone else said try and not let them tense up while actually running - but hey probably easier said then done if your body is used to tensing the shoulders!

ya happened to me. were your shoulder muscles sore while running also? as said above prob due to tensing up. i tried deep heat and found to my surprise that this helped relieve the pain/soreness between top of shoulders and neck but as mentioned above if u can relax shoulders better again !!
