Voluntary Leave - Public Sector

I have a vague memory of a possible annoucement that public sector works are entitled to a third of their salary up to 12,000 euro if they take a voluntary leave of absence. I talked to a few people in my work place and they said this was something mentioned around "budget time : the second coming" but nothing else was known.

Does anyone know what I'm on about???? Has anyone heard anymore info on this or know where I can find more info?

I'm currently applying for a leave of absence and I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by leaving the week before this bill/measure is announced.

    Thanks

Its only in the civil service- not the public sector at large- and you have to sign up to a 3 year absence, during which you do not accrue superannuation rights, PRSI stamps etc, and you are not entitled to work in the Irish republic. RTE and some of the commercial state bodies are rumoured to have more attractive terms in mind for their staff but there has been nothing published thus far.

Ps- permission to use the scheme is dependent entirely on the business needs of divisions- and its very possible that requests may be denied on staffing grounds.
