Civil Service Q re Decentralisation

    Hi

Hoping someone can help / advise.

I moved recently under decentralisation and the move hasn't worked out at all.

I'm unhappy in the new job and new area I'm living in.

I desperately want to move back but I signed a 2 year guarentee that I would stay in my new Dept / location.

Surely with such a big move there would be a understanding that it possibly wouldn't work out and people would be given the opportunity to move back?

It's actually getting me down a lot to a point where I want to leave the job and just mvoe back to Dublin.

    Anyone have any advice?

How long more do you have left?

The problem is that quite simply there may not be posts left in Dublin. I'd suggest you have a word with your Employee Assistance Officer- and see if they are in a position to help. The one thing I would say- is it could very well be a case of 'out of the frying pan and into the fire'. Most of the government departments have been requested to identify staff for transfer into the DSFA- to help them deal with the massive upsurge in social welfare requests. Even if you did get a transfer back to Dublin- there is no guarantee it would be your old job in your old department.........

Did you accept a promotion or were you specifically recruited for this post? Do you have a previous substantive grade you can revert to?

You need to talk to your EAO as soon as possible.
