Badly injured was all I saw. 2 fellas in masks invade a flat (?) and stab this fella. I'm guessing it wasn't random.

Yeah just found this , Crazy that anyone could go in with a machete and use it on someone

    From Rte News

A man is in hospital in Waterford following an assault in which he sustained serious injuries to one of his hands.

The 23-year-old was attacked in an apartment in Rockshire Court in Waterford city around 2am this morning.

Gardaí say two men wearing balaclavas entered the apartment and attacked the man.

He received a number of stab wounds and it is understood one of his hands was very badly injured.

He was taken to Waterford Regional hospital where his condition is described as 'very serious'.

Gardaí are trying to establish what type of weapons were used in the attack and are investigating reports that a machete was used.

Correct me if I'm wrong but i think its behind the chipper in ferrybank across from the north quays

Yeah that's right, the apartments just behind Delicatas, 99% sure. It is sad to see the state of safety the City is falling into but its getting more common all over Ireland, not just here. Sad indeed.

Can Waterford do that type of repair to a mans hand or will he have to be transfered to Dublin?

Think its down in cork they do alot of thet type of reconstructive surgery if your from down this way.
Seems this type of thing is on the rise alright.Heard about a similar incident 2 months back that happened to a friend of a friends brother. He was basically savagely beaten and hacked up in his flat as well.Didn't hear a word of it on the news and from what I understand the chap is still in hospital in a very bad way.Reckon its gonna get fairly bad over the summer as well, incidents of violence are bizarely correlated with heat waves in other countries and it looks like we might have one hell of a hot summer.I don't know about ye but I'm locking myself back in the cupboard and hiding under me duffel coat.

It seem it was related to a fued that was going on in the city for a few months recently. Thats the fued that was supposedly ended with a photo and an apology to the public on the front of the news and star.

    From the Indo..

A savage attack on a man in his 20s has sparked fears of a renewed outbreak of feuding between Traveller families.
The victim sustained severe injuries in an attack at a house in Waterford city early yesterday morning.
William Burke was described as being in a "critical but stable" condition in hospital, though it is feared he may lose a hand. He suffered lacerations to his hand, arms and legs.
A machete is thought to have been used.
The attack happened at about 2am in a house at the Rockshire Court area of Ferrybank, on the edge of Waterford city, after two masked men entered the property.

ye its gonna all kick off again i reckon, that man had his arse cheek and leg skinned i was told from friend in hospital it was bad so he lucky to be alive he will loose hand and be in bad pain, cops are watching them all very carefully which means more than likely it will stay quiet til their observation cools off and they get some time to plan somethin ,but then again they could still do it with cops on their backs, i wonder what kicked it ll off again ?

No. I'm not an animal lover but what kind of psychopath attacks a horse!
We talk about these kind of things, like weather or not i'll buy another pint. Where are we going?????????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

is any of this confirmed? God the last thing we need in the city is this cracking off again. Still, it'll keep sully busy :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,118 ✭✭✭jo06555

ITS all bein kept very quiet in media but i was told by numerous sources it was def related to feud and by 1 source that it related to horse ,so not concrete but def is feud again, and of course its terrible for any animal to be harmed like that ,i was just saying for anyone to retaliate for attack on horse and then go do same to human? whats that say?

lets hope cops keep control of it which seems to be happening (of course on tax payers expense) but it needs to be done before a life is lost.

Did you happen to read back on the thread before you actually made your post. It was his hand that he was having problems with, not his leg:rolleyes:
