hello to everone I bought a focus cayo from wiggle in england.Just wondered has anyone in Ireland have one,as i have never seen anyone cycle on one.If anyone has one i would like to hear from you.Just to ask a few questions about them i am 5 foot 9 and a bit and got a medium.Been off the bike for a month and now as i got back on it it seems i might have got a size too small.

The size chart on the wiggle site says you're on the border of Large and Medium. Others (more wise than me) will inform you how to make the bike bigger.

    M/54 5'7-5'9"
    L/56 5'9-6'0"

I have a Focus i'm 5-7 and I have the medium. The only problem I have is the concept saddle 3 months later and it still giving me jibb.

Lots of people in here have Focus and they are more than happy with it for what i can read from the posts. How does it feel small? Do you feel your legs are too close on the bars? The easiest solution would be to up the saddle a bit (which i would assume you already did) and the second one is to change the stem.

Yeah the concept saddle is crap changed it.What do you think of the bike itself first carbon bike for me.I have put on some weight around the mid section and my flex ability has suffered.I also flipped the stem yeah i am a wimp.Just wondered how it compared to other carbon bikes is it as good as some of the well known makes.Or is the cayo a cheap carbon bike with some short cuts.

Thanks guys for the replies cant keep up:o.The bike seems a little cramped just a little. As you say a longer stem would seem the most sensible option.I think a longer stem would sort it out completely.I need to get on the bike and get a lot fitter.Once again thanks for the quick replies:)

I am the same height as you and ride 54cm Focus ... the Variado expert .. not the Cayo. But I have a strange body ... longer legs than torso ...

Wiggle support suggested 56cm, but more than happy with the 54cm. Even with the 54cm, I needed a shorter stem and one with a high rise as I have poor flexibility and shorter because, I had to move the saddle back and high to get my legs adjusted properly.

Still getting slight niggles between the shoulder blades after around 80km on the bike .. but am working on my flexibility and core strenght and might go in for some of those bike fitting sessions to fix this.

i've a cayo for just over a month now or so, i'm 5' 10" with the medium aswell find it fine size wise really. Just need to improve my core strength a fair bit as it does seem to like an aggressive enough position but just good motivation for doing core(its so boring).

Maybe see about getting a bike fit and see what they think?

If you need more length consider moving the saddle back (and compensate by lowering the saddle). It costs nothing, unless you change seatpost to get more setback.

I have a 20mm setback seatpost on my 58cm Cayo, and the saddle is all the way back on the rails. This unloads my arms and allows me to get more comfortable arm bend and run greater drop for a more aero efficient position. I run so much setback I only need a 90mm stem; the F/R balance isn't ideal but I'm happy.

Power may suffer a little due to more closed hip angle but not an issue unless you're racing.

Hello short circuit i have long legs for height and wiggle suggested a 56 instead of a 54.I just put the bike on the turbo trainer and as Lumen suggested i moved the saddle back and the bike made much better.(It is very late to think of doing this, but it was a good idea and now i feel the bike feels pretty damn good.)As i have a day off tomorrow i must take it for a spin. This is my first time on this site and i never thought i would get so many replies. Thanks everyone for your time.:):)

Just a last thought to anyone who has a cayo what do you honestly think of the cayo?I personally think it is a good bike climbs well it has an aggressive nature because of the short head tube, it just looks small compared to other bikes that of the same size.Anyway it will have to do and i am quite pleased with it.

    I am 6ft (180cm) with inside leg 33.5in (85cm).
I bought a medium focus cayo because I already knew I could adjust a med (54cm) or large (56cm) frame to suit me and at worst change the stem. As far as I can remember Wiggle requested my height as part of the ordering process and fitted a 110mm stem instead of the 100mm standard for a med frame.
Before I bought the focus I was used to riding a large frame with 120mm stem, 175mm cranks and 44cm bars.
The Med focus of course has 172.5mm cranks and 42cm bars.
When I got on the focus first I thought that the frame fitted me perfectly but I always had the feeling I wasnt getting the power on the pedals. I changed the bars to 44cm which made the bike more stable when sprinting out of the saddle and gives me more leverage and now I have got accustomed to the shorter cranks. I have 6 bikes and give them all a spin now and then. They all feel different and I adjust my riding style to suit the bike. I would be surprised if a med frame cannot be adjusted to suit your height. My advice is try to adjust saddle height/forward/rear, handlebar/hood height and then if you are not happy try flipping or changing the stem length and angle.

Yeah I am 5'10" (well, more like a bit under) with a 32" inseam (recently correctly measured, I knew my legs weren't that short!) and a 54cm frame in 2 different makes suits me perfect. I like a frame feeling a little more compact, but a 56cm would be a bit too big for me.

Is it your first road bike? They all feel a little smaller when you first get on one, try a few decent length spins and see how you get on. Preferably with a friend who knows a bit about cycling and can have a look at your shape on the bike.

Big fan of the cayo, it's a very nice bike: Focus Cayo Review

It's a hard bike to criticise when you look at how much you have to spend to get something significantly fancier (i.e. about €4k).

If you're slow on it, it's not the bikes fault (that comment is directed more at me than you).

The headtube is short(ish), but necessary if you want the potential for an efficient position. I'm currently running a couple of cm of spacers, but I'd be able to get my back completely horizontal if I removed them.

I had a Cayo which I sold on to Lumen when I bought my Litespeed. It's a very good bike in my opinion, at least as good as the entry-level carbon frames from the big manufacturers (I had a carbon Trek before it.)

I have a Cayo (08) and while it is my first 'proper' road bike (with, like, gears and everything) I am extremely happy with it.

I'm short (5' 5.5") so the bike is small. Wiggle did a very good job on the set up. Other than some fiddling with the saddle position (which isn't quite the 4r5e-hatchet I thought it was at first), I have had no issues at all.

I have it nearly a year, and the rider has improved considerably after a couple of thousand kms:o. The bike has been flawless. I had expected either some middle or lower back pain as I got used to distances, and expected the set-up would need some adjustment for my posture, but I've been lucky with that, no pain at all.

Enjoy the bike, hope it goes well for you.

I went for a Brooks Swallow, it was the obvious choice for a carbon bike.
