Setting up an on course bookie business

    Hi I am looking to set up an on course bookies does anyone no how do i get started?

    Probably your best bet (pardon the pun), would be to go along to a meeting and talk to one of the on course bookies themselves. One of them is bound to give you info on what you need to know.
    Spend a few days following what they do and try and pick up what/not to do.
    I would imagine it would be a tough profession to get into as most bookies pass on their profession to their sons/daughters.
    Also you would need a bit of cash to lay the punters - if you can't offer them their bet they will avoid you.

    Fairyhouse and Leopardstown have meetings this week.

    I thought the numbers of pitches on track are limited and generally passed between generations.

    To buy one you would need a lot of capital.
