    Hi all,
Looking for some advice, am thinking about buying a netbook. Could anyone recommend a good one. Also what are the boardsies opinions on them. Would i be better off with a laptop.
    Thanks in advance,

By all accounts the Samsung NC10 is the best. Might have to do a bit o' research to find out which one is best for yourself though.

OP, what do you want out of your netbook? We can't tell you what you need if you can't tell us what it's going to be used for. A netbook is very light and relatively inexpensive, but the trade off being that it's not going to be terribly fast at doing more than just web browsing and mail. However a laptop will be heavier and larger, but will have at least a dvd burner and will be more powerful etc. You need to give us more info

Not keen on the Samsung, take a look at the Eee 1000HE, here's a nice concise review.

(I use a rather creaky Eee 900 myself, addicted to the size and shock proof SSD)

It also pays to hang around a lively forum to see what people have complaints about!

    Hi All,
Thanks for the replys so far. I already have a sony laptop but I was looking for something smaller and lighter for out and about. It would be mainly used for e-mail and web surfing am addictet to boards, dont post much but enjoy trawling through the different forums. I would like the netbook to have a decent size HD to store some music, pictures and maybe some video.
    Thanks again,
    Ollie:)

I've run the student edition, it works fine, the main problem when you work on a document, on a screen that size, is the user interface, you really have to tame the panels and 'ribbon' visible, otherwise it'll eat into your screen space.

It just isn't fun, on a small screen, to have only two thirds of it given over to the actual view of the document..

On the default install image of various Asus Eee's Open Office\Star Office (I forget which) is installed.

nice one, thanks for that. the screen size is obviously an issue, but one that comes with all netbooks so its to be expected.
