I don't see the Sci-Fi channel on the MMDS service even though it is available on the both the 'Select' and 'Max' packages.

How can I get this channel on MMDS?

Not all channels are currently available in all areas - so even if it's listed as part of the pack, it doesn't nessecarily mean that you can have it. MMDS areas specifically seem to suffer from this more than cabled areas.

MMDS line-up is less that Cable, not sure of your area, but SciFi/Alibi were not availalble on MMDS is Connemara, think it applies to most MMDS.

I rang up once and asked them would they consider getting rid of BuzzTV to get either one and no...

That's just typical, they give people Buzz a bloody channel I'd nearly pay not to have and don't give SciFi a channel at least some people might have a passing interest in

Plus, if the problem is capacity on the MMDS network, they lost a chanel (Performance) which they never replaced, or at least had not before i cancelled. Plus they had a few +1 chanels, +1 can be quite good, but not at the expensive of another different chanell.

I'm on the Greystones/Windgates MMDS service.

Had a look down through the channels...yeah, there are a good few channels missing that are 'available' in the Select package, but I also have channels that are available on the Max package. I suppose I get a good part of both packages, but all for only 2euro less (not a bargain at all).

What I do see is the following channels being a waste of space on the service:
    1. Info TV (I reckon Buzz gets more viewers),
2: the two Stetanta Ireland slots at 105 and 401 (leave it on 105 and clear 401 on MMDS),
3: Den TV on 601 (this is just RTE2 so whats the point there!),
4: and of course Buzz TV (general consensus is, this channel is pointless!!).

There you go UPC, I found four spaces within a couple of minutes where nobody would be effected whatsoever, So come on give us the Scifi channel.

If I had my way I'd get rid of MUTV and have LFC TV

I don't believe they duplicate this channel, it is transmitted only once, and it is simply linked twice in the EPG, so no space to be saved here.

However you are correct about the other channels.

Was using the chorus MMDS system over the weekend while away, don't remember seeing the Sci-Fi channel. It's a complete mess of a system though. For example, the channel Comedy Central doesn't come on the system until 7pm and stops at about 7am IIRC, yet Comedy Central+1 broadcasts 24/7

I don't really see UPC's ideas of placing the +1 channels on the system (unless they're bound by the broadcasters or something). Why not place decent channels on the system, and then if someone wants to timeshift a channel, let them upgrade to the DVR system? UPC don't have the luxury of gigabits worth of channel bandwidth like sky do so can't really afford to have timeshift channels on the system, yet they seem quite happy to waste what limited bandwidth they do have with ridiculous channel setups and lineups that certainly would not make me choose UPC MMDS over sky...
