Is it proper MCD chat or only talk about things MCD would like said?

It's back to how it used to be I think! Can talk about ******, Trinity Ball, the Ambassador, and anything on mcd.ie. Standard libel laws of course still apply.

Heh, filters need to be updated :)

I saw this on the front page, and I was thinking, "n00b get back in yo' box".

But then, I was all "Dónal?:

Where was this announcement made? (onsite)

Interesting. How did this all come about? MCD drop their legal case?

Don't know the specifics - there should be an announcement in a day or two or, from reading the thread on the night out, when people recover :)

What Trinity Collge band played in the ball, and won the battle of the bands?

I still can't get over the semi-final of Trinity Battle of the Bands. It was a bit unfair tbh.

There was a suprecourt ruling in relation to a similar case with established that Irish "chat rules" were protected by the e-commerce directive. Somehow this has allowed negative comments directed towards MCD to be posted. You still cant post anything liberous (An MCD security guard sold me drugs ect) but you can say trinity ball was organised my a moronic useless bunch of ****. You cannot talk about the Boards.ie LTD Vs MCD case.

Tbh all this has been handled very badly.

MCD MCD MCD MCD MCD ****** MCD MCD ARE GHEY.

    Woah.

I think my expectations for the ball were too high to be realistically fulfillled. Not worth 70+ euro for a ticket.

Maybe next year they can sort out a real lineup.

Maybe listen to some suggestions from here,eh?

MCD has a wonderful product in the Trinity Ball. They can run a mediocre line-up year in, year out, and people will buy tickets because it is tradition. Presumably at this stage people don't expect a good act when they buy Ball tickets, so it's clearly not the quality of the acts they are shelling out large amounts for. As long as they don't let outsiders in, people will get what they paid for.

I have only attended the Trinity Ball when I didn't have to pay for the night.

Don't mention the court case. Don't libel.

But I am delighted to report that I think MCD are a shower of pricks.

Absolutely delighted to see the ban has been lifted. Outrageous that it had to be implemented in the first place. Fúck MCD, a set of total cúnts.

As for the ball, it was alright. Line-up was fairly rubbish but at least that gave me the freedom to stagger around with different people whenever I wanted. I was pleased to see that drinks weren't a total rip-off on the night. 70 euro for tickets was way too much though, especially with that line-up. I think we should end MCD involvement in the ball - take it back into our own hands. I think they have the contract for another few years though, anyone know exactly how long?

Up to and including the 2011 Ball. So two more Balls.

The problems with self-management are at least twofold. First, there is no guarantee that an Ents officer will do a better job at scheduling acts, presumably in concord with one or promotions agency, than the agency itself. Second, student capitations would ultimately bear the entirety of a loss on the Ball if that were to come about, and if part one happens it very well might.

It's not like it will make any difference, they'll sell it again to MCD.

Didn't think the line up was great but have to say The Script did put on a good show.
Feckin' hell there were people going at it everywhere! (can I say that?!) Anyone else see the couple on the grass RIGHT outside the exit of the main tent? Now thats what ya call a PDA!
Also I lost my feckin' fone right after The Script, (coincidentally quite close to aforementioned couple), anybody find it?? I checked the Security Office but no luck...
