    Hello All

Anybody know if date AND time stamps are required on hard copy cctv images to be used as evidence by Gardai/in court etc.
I have a system that will provide a date stamp but not time - is this good enough?

Most CCTV footage in this country is dismissed anyways. Cases have been thrown out because of CCTV evidence saying one time and the criminal having proof they were somewhere else at that time. The PSA and garda as far as I know are now working on a standard that will have to be adhered to for evidence. As installers then these are our minimum requirements. Ireland has been very lazy about this and it has meant now that a lot of businesses have bought systems that may not stnd up to the code.

If your evidence is in relaction to a specific case then I would advise you contact the Garda handling the incident. Ask them will the footage you have be ok? Sometimes they need specifics sometimes they dont.

We are all waiting for the PSA to do all this, as soon as we have something we will be able to answer this for you.

In my own opinion though every good DVR would time and date stamp and also have a verification file attached to prove it wasnt altered..
