Aren't they gay when you can't see? The Academy sucks balls as a venue. Damn I hate being a midget.

no, they're gay when they involve committing homosexual acts.

Saw Sigur Ros a couple of years ago at a festival. I'm 5' tall, not an inch more and some chap who was close to 7' came and stood directly in front of me. I got a savage view of the beams above though. Not so much of the light show, however.

Tall people should be made stand at the back. Or sit on the ground. I always have the big eared freak in front of me with the lights from the stage highlighting their ears.

OP - Have you considered crafting a raised personal viewing platform using yore 'tash and other sundry fibres ? Perhaps a scarf or two ?

You'd have to be fairly handy with the ol' knitting needles, but I think it's worth a shot.

    Heightest.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Is this thread, by an chance, related to the fact that we can now talk about MCD? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 359 ✭✭jigglywoo

There should be a laser beam at the stage 5 feet above the ground which points to the opposite side of the venue and falls 7 feet above ground. Anyone whose head passes through the beam will be mulitated.
This would force people to be in the appropriate height range and allows small people at the front and tall people at the back.
    Everyone would be happy.

    :pac:

I would love to be able to knit a podium of sorts Trout. If only I could turn wool into wood & screws & paint 'n'stuff.

Yes! It's that sort of forward thinking that would have you promoted to deputy mayor.

Knit yoreself a hammock or sling, and suspend it from nearby fixtures and fittings, such as emergency exit signs or sprinklers.

That sounds like wayy too much effort. It'd be a lot easier & funner to jab the knitting needles into the backs of the long drinks of waters' knees till they collapse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,957 ✭✭✭trout

I have it - bring several knitting needles, and impale the tall people so that you have an impromptu ladder.

You'd have to stick them in good and tight.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,239 ✭✭✭✭WindSock

Do I get double sided knitting needles and impale the tall-ies side by side for extra stability?

I was at a gig in the Academy a few weeks ago. I had to stand at the back because the place was packed.

'Sucking balls' and 'midgets' in the same post, and yet I am still disappointed.

No worries OP. Someone will have crappy quality videos posted on youtube soon. You can see all the action you want then.

Yup, i feel your pain OP.
I'm not very tall either and hate it when some tall person comes and stands in front of me.

And so for most gigs, i manage to push my way to the front, if not the first row, the 2nd or 3rd row and its decent view from there.
Or else in places like vicar street or academy, if its not a band i absolutely love, i go and sit in the back, where the chairs are in vicar street, excellent view from there.
And in academy, the little place to the right of the stage where the couches are give you a good side view of the stage too.

If that is not possible, then the moshpit is an excellent place to get a good view. As there is no one standing right in front of you and if you're bored you can jump into the moshpit for some fun too...

So, if its a band i desperately like. I manage to go early and get to the front.
If its a band i don't desperately like, go to the back where i can get a good view from. Away from the people in the front.
Its its a band i like but no place at the back either, there's always a good view from the moshpit!

Except when you get short ass scumbags starting fights with you to make up for their lack of height

If you're taller than them then just step on them. No more small scumbags giving you hassle.
