I'm starting work in a few week's time, haven't worked at all this year upto this point.

Have a P45 from work last summer.

Can I just hand it last year's P45, or do I need to get a new cert of tax credits for 2009 (via a form 12a)?

    Revenue.ie is of little help.

    Many thanks,
    -S

    Hey,

12A is only used for first time registrations on PAYE. Your best bet is when you start ring revenue give them your new details of employment, date ya started, company tax no etc, and if they ask tell them what you were doing, college, school etc. Last yrs P45 is not required for employment in new tax yr.

Would be no harm giving it to them as it would satisfy proof of PPS No. to avoid more severe emergency tax, though you can use other ID for that.

Your employer can use ROS to register you as well.
