Website feedback

    Hi All,

Well after weeks of hard work I am finally near completion and was looking for some feedback on the new website www.Gstore.ie . I have been reviewing previous feedback that was given on other sites and taken that into account. I know there are going to be places that I have missed and was hoping some of the keen eyes here could point them out.

My aim is to provide the products at a fair price I see what others are charging on Irish websites for similar items and I am shocked at it so I am hoping to combat this rip off culture as best I can.

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards
    Tony

I quite like it, if you are cheaper than other sites, would some sort of a price comparison with some similar big sites be possible?

Also, personally I prefer shopping sites to have decent contact information, a phone number and address preferably, but at least an email address instead of a form.

    Love it.
Very user friendly - my immediate reaction was 'Yes, I'll buy something on this website'. I'm already looking...so from a consumers point of view, it's great.

A price comparisson is a good idea will put that on the list thanks.

I have added the email address on the contact us form and my phone number is on the T&C's but as this is a part-time thing at the moment the phone will not be manned 24/7 so putting a number at the contact us is not the best idea in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback all good points.

WOW, I am sitting here beaming from ear to ear thank you so much makes it all worth while to hear that. I know I dont have a huge amount of products but what I have is the best from the budget that I could afford and I think it is a good selection.

Ready and waiting to ship today ;)

Nice Site Tony, best of luck with it.

I nealy bought something, the €8.65 charge for delivery on a €9.99 product stopped me, I would proably of went for it with €4.99 for delivery or less....

You'll do well, keep pluggin it...;)

Thanks for the feedback, the delivery is the lowest I could get starting off but I think if the discount is applied to the product and the delivery is not discounted then this shouldnt be much of an issue. I have checked with all possible couriers and this is the lowest that I could get. Hopefully if my volumes increase then the shipping will be negotiable.

When you say "couriers" are you including An Post?
May be worth considering shipping low ticket items via the Post rather than more expensive courier services ....... customers are quite accepting of items via Post ...... you just gotta build in a small level of "loss" into the cost model.

Very good point i will look into that also I have a lot of items that could be shipped in a normal envelope. The shipping is a major thorn in my side I can honestly say that I make nothing out of the shipping so having the cheapest shipping cost possible is my goal which will of course be passed on, when the volumes hopefully increase I am going to hammer the couriers for a decrease of the costs. I tried all the couriers and fastway were by far the cheapest An Post were really expensive for packages I was shocked how overpriced they were especially as they probably have the strongest infrastructure in place.

    Layout of homepage and others:

The top could be done better. The top lhs logo which is a background should be incorporated with the banner/4.jpg (Gstore, Gifts, Gadgets and Gizmos tagline and image) in the top lhs, moving the search box to the right towards my basket. This graphic should link back to the homepage from every page - that's what users expect. Dump the www.Gstore.ie grey graphic above the contact link - it does nothing. This frees up some prime real estate in the main body which can get another product displayed above the 'fold'. Widening the layout could also get you 2 products side-by-side doubling exposure in prime real estate.

Make the grey main text darker for readability.

Add a style for the Go and other submit buttons or make them like the Go in the search at the top.

Your 'Add to basket' format needs be made consistent. It should have Quantity(optional/dumpable), dropdown and 'Add to Cart'. The 'Add to Cart' is much more effective if it's a graphic with good contrast and no greyed out/pastel colours.

Address on the contact page - vital for trust.

Your RBN must be displayed somewhere.

Payment by PayPal and bank transfers only - you need to get CC processing/merchant accnt in place as a priority.

Do you only ship to Ireland? Ideally you should ship further.

    Good luck!

    Great Site,

Where else in Ireland can a man get an affordable mankini whilst at the same time pick up a beer pong table.

This thing could really take off. Fair play to you for giving it a go.

I dont know how to do it but ive seen others put the website address of their business at the bottom of their boards profile so it comes up when they post something, like swaponomics for example, id do that then start posting all over boards. The beer gut and receding hair forum would then be my number one target.

Really appreciate your comments Tricky D.

I understand what you mean about the header and will talk to the developers on monday morning I think you have a great point.

I have updated the text colour and it does look better.

about the buttons I completely missed this and you are totally right so I have sent them a mail already about it.

Im slightly confused about the add to basket process that you mentioned. I will ask them about a add to cart button, I totally agree.

    The address is added.

As I am a sole trader will the RBN number be the one that I got from the CRO?

Currently Paypal and Bank transfer are all that I can accept I totally plan to switch this to a merchant account as I think not being able to accept laser is a major flaw.

I currently only ship to Ireland but would love if this took off and I could go further afield

As you can probably see from the above I am delighted with your feedback and completely agree with it, So thanks again for taking so much time to review the site it really is appreciated.

No Problem. The menfolk of Ireland really need to know this type of thing.

Might also be an idea to start posting in the colleges threads in the education section in order to catch the eye of the tail end of the j-1 crowd before they head off or start a few so where are you heading on your J1 this year polls in the various college threads.

If theres a group of people who will buy mankinis and beer pong tables its Lads goin on a J1.

Basically they need to be made consistent and use a graphic for the Add to Cart which performs better. Currently some of the 'Add to Cart' functions say Buy, Dropdown, Go button or Add to Basket, dropdown, Buy button or some other variation. Make them consistent and use graphic instead of submit button.

    The 6 digit one

I know, I know, early doors, but flag them with priority nevertheless.

Who are you using as your courier?

As some have said if the item is light then an post could be the best/cheapest option.

Fastway.ie can be less than a fiver plus vat for all of ireland incl NI.

DPD can be good as well.

Nice site Tony. Simple graphics, good presentation of products (although a pic at the top of the description instead of the bottom could be better) and easy navigation. Good luck with it.

edit: There's something quite disturbing about that voodoo knife block

Yeah i Know what you mean that is one of the requests that I have open with the developers to move that picture up to the top.

We have one of those blocks in our kitchen and it gets great comments. The unofficial name for it is the EX boyfriend which is a bit of a wierd name :D.

Guys just for your information I have reduced the delivery costs to €8 it was on my mind all last night, we are taking a hit on the cost and I am not sure if it will make any difference but from what I could see that was a major piece of negative feedback that I received so I hope this somehow helps.

I am going to be reviewing these costs and looking for an alternative supplier over the coming days so thanks for your feedback here.

    Hi Tony255

Like the site. Nice and clean and easy to navigate.
Maybe you could do some SEO on the site.
Have a read over Google's starter guide to SEO. Link

    Best of luck with it.

Even with 8euro postage it would still be a bit offputting. would you not consider upping your prices by say, 3euro and only charging 5euro for postage;). there is a shop in the Blanchardstown Center selling similar products, is this shop yours? best of luck.

Hi, I work for PayPal and I can assure you that on websites accepting PP you can pay by credit/debit cards and laser, too. Unfortunately, it is a misconception that you need a PP account to pay as this is what happens on eBay. Merchant's websites and eBay have different policies and rules. I hope this helps
