My boyfriend and I are hoping to get a last minute deal to majorca in June. Can anyone tell me what the nicest resorts are? Thinking of Cala D'Or maybe. Also which travel agents are best and are there any to avoid like the plague?

I think Cala D'or would be an excellent choice. I stayed in Porto Colum which was great for a family holiday, but not lively enough for a young couple.

We only visited cala D'Or twice during the day, but it looked lovely. It has a big marina so you can sit in a posh restaurent watching the other half on their yachts for a few hours, or head into the centre where the crowds are knocking back Sangria like there's no tomorrow.

Magaluf would be the place to avoid, or Palma itself.

Cala d'Or might be too quiet - Alcudia is a resort with good nightlife, but it's not as busy as Magaluf, Palma Nova or Santa Ponsa.

The great thing about Alcudia is the fantastic beach and the proximity to Puerto Pollensa, another lovely resort with quieter nightlife and some fabulous restaurants.

If you do go to the north of the island, visit Pollensa, the town inland from Puerto Pollensa, it's lovely and the typical Majorquin restaurants are just wonderful.

Hi Salome, is Alcudia far from palma airport. We are booking a late deal there and have airport transfers.
Is it possible to hire a car there or would we need one? I hired a bike normally on hols but am hoping to do a bit of quadding etc.
    Thanks

Alcudia is about 30-45 mins drive from Palma airport so if your package includes transfers, then you're laughing.

I wouldn't hire a car from the airport as the autovia in Palma city is a nightmare to navigate if you're a newbie. If you want to hire a car, do it in Alcudia - it's a beautiful island. You can also hire bikes there - the roads are pretty good but off the beaten track, you might find them a bit tough to cycle.

    Hi
we're just back from Puerto Pollenca and got a week there with Falcon Holidays for €590. Its a quiet enough resort, but has some fantastic restaurants and nice pubs. We had a brilliant time, relaxing on the sandy beaches and then at night eating some fabulous meals.
But if you're looking for a great nightlife, it probably wouldn't be ideal.

Also would highly recommend Falcon Travel for a good package holiday. THey looked after us well and there were no problems at all.

Best thing about Mallorca....Its only 2 hours 15 mins on an aeroplane!!

    Thanks for all the replies.

Hi I am going to Majorca first week in October. Can anyone recommend a resort that has plenty of nice bars/restaurants but not full of clubs/late night bars. Looking for a relaxing week but dont want to be stuck somewhere dead either after the main holiday season?
