Goddamn it, the Phoenix park is GREAT ! I don't know what everyone complains about. Yeah there are people on the cycle paths and cycling salmon that cycle the wrong way on the lanes, but jaysus it's a really great way to get through the city early in the morning.

Straight line all the way through, thumbs up !

I really miss cycling in the Park - early mornings especially in the Spring and Autumn were the best, before the traffic builds up.

Yes, you do get rollerbladers, pedestrians, and all sorts who don't realise what the big white bikes on the ground mean, but so what?

I need to find a way to reintegrate it into my commute!

I went for a 6am spin in the park last tuesday when i saw the sun was out. There was noone at all in the park, it was great :) I did a couple of laps and came back home. By the time I was cycling back home the POBs and commuters were on their way into town.

I never use the cylce lanes just stick to the roads. Use it about 4-5 times a week, great spot.

I love running in the park, especially around by the old magazine at the chapelizod gate. I normally park at the papal cross but its becoming a bit over run with scum now with the spell of good weather.

I love letting my children play with the cyclists.

Passing the deer in the park on a misty spring morning is a real treat.

when I say passing, I don't mean overtaking. I'm sure the deer are faster than me when they try

....yep, there's nothing to beat a slalom courses where the obstacles move about erratically.....

......and just to kick over a can of worms, I don't understand why people get so wound up with other people (non-cyclists) in the cycle lanes. If I'm hammering through the Park aiming for a PB I tend to stick to the road -the cycle lane there is more for breezing along while you think of an excuse to do another lap that will plausibly explain your lateness into work.

Deffo on both points - early morning when they are over near the roads. Had two stags break cover near the Cheshire Home once - they came thundering down the hill then ran parallel with the road before cutting across in front of me - that's not a bad way to start the day!

I'll admit they had me on acceleration, but I reckoned they bailed once they realised I was gaining on them:)

I have never been in to the park except on my way to the zoo many years ago. I really should go see what all the fuss is about.

Anyone fancy a spin out there someday for a few laps? Like during the week, around midday?

I love a nice walk on the lovely smooth cycle lanes. It's hilarious when they skinny guys on racer bikes have to brake suddenly to get around you.

lol:D I mis-read the first time and thought you said "Passing the deer in the park on a misty spring morning is a real threat." I was thinking 'blimey, now the deer are giving us attitude too?'

Excellent idea, don't know why I haven't thought of this before. Only up the road and easier for me than organising an evening spin. In this weather, bliss.
