Possible coffee blasphamy

    Hi guys,

I dip in and out of here every so often but rarely post.

I do like & appreciate (two different things) a decent cup of coffee. I only have a drip machine which suits my purpose for the rare enough times I get to use it, (usually with Robert Roberts fair trade Colombian).

I was thinking of getting one of those "pod" machines, nespresso etc.

I know they'd be frowned upon by the serious coffee drinkers, but for someone like myself I think it'd be ideal...

Can anyone give me a pros & cons list of having one ?

    Hi,
Spotted this from the front page, this is most certainly blasphemy on a mortal scale, besides the fact that Nescafe put dead babies in all of their products. You are limiting yourself to only one brand of coffee!!!

By buying this you are making a comittment to buying Nescafe only. There isn't anyone else who makes containers for this machine?

Another major disadvantage of this thing is you care going to be stuck with an obselete coffee maker as soon as they decide to stop making or change the design of the containers. I'd give it another year tops. Think of it like a modern soda-stream, good for a few months and then relegated to under the sink.

    Thanks for the reply.

I would imagine these machines are the coffee equivelent of printers or photocopiers, in that the company makes more from the capsule than the machine.

For the sake of handiness & convenience would it not be a decent purchase (not necessarally nescafe's one.

    Firstly its Nestlé.

Secondly the company and whole system would collapse if they changed their pod design. As the OP rightly said, they make their money in the sale of the opds so why would they destroy their whole market.

Thirdly I find firends of mine who have a Nespresso v for example Gaggic mini, would use the Nespresso far more regularly just because of the convnience factor.

Now I am in no way saying they are great or anything but its a cleaver concept that will be around for a while yet and is damn handy!

    Pity about the quality though...
