Hey, you need special software to do this kind of job - but there is loads of freeware available. Just google "mp4 to mp3 converter" and you should get a bunch of options. I think 'bink and smacker' can do it, & 'switch', for example.

mp4 files can be copy protected (DRM) so it may not be possible to convert them into mp3, one "way around this" for some versions of this DRM protection is to burn your DRM files using the software you downloaded them from (itunes for example) to a audio cd, this will burn a standard audio CD without protection (as there is no protection standard in the audio cd one) and you can re-rip the files using say Exact Audio Copy which can create a mp3 files out of it, a long proccess, but may be possible, in some cases the DRM will restrict allowing you to burn audio cds though..

if you really want to convert them, the free program format factory is excellent, it will literally convert any format into any format

as media players go, win media player is weak, VLC is the undisputed player of any files! :)

but its no good for managing music, if you want a really good music app try song bird or media monkey
