Can anyone advise me on the likely costs of setting up a limo service using a classic motor? I'm considering the Wedding chauffer market, but have no idea about the costs of tax/insurance etc etc.

sorry if this is the wrong spot.

You'll have to get a PSV licence and insurance and you car will need to be registered and taxed as a PSV. You will also have to get it NCT's every year.

If you have an idea of the car you want you can start phoning around to get prices. Classic insurance will not cover this type of use.

Wouldn't have thought its a great time to start this kind of business, Are you in the chauffeur trade already?
Its awful quite out there for regular chauffeurs.
Suppose it all the depends on the cost of the set up.
I dont think there'd be full-time work out it though,
    Sorry.

i have an idea for an opening in d market but the additional costs might make it tough. One booking a week would prob pay it off within 18 months but passing the nct etc could be problematic, its a bit of a guzzler

    Actually he would.

He's an American car fanatic and has set up this company for dual purposes: in order to get PSV tax on 5L+ cars, and also as a sideline. It's not his main line of business at all. Also he's probably the most helpful chap I know.
