Sailing with a dog

Planning to go out sailing with our 5 year old dog :) Our problem is that he doesn't want to do his "business" on the boat when we are out a long time ... He probably thinks the boat is like home. Any idea on how to make him understand that it's ok to go in the cockpit ? Thank you for your help. ValerieR
