Don't suppose its the left pedal?
(The left one unscrews clockwise, catches someone on the cycling forum out every second day)

Otherwise, find a long bar which slides over the handle of the wrench and use that for extra leverage.

yeah they can be difficult to get off. just remember they loosen the opposite way you pedal
