Poor Blu-ray movie quality on PS3

My PS3 provides a crystal clear image for games & DVDs but when watching a movie on Blu-ray there are horizontal lines flickering on the TV screen (1080p LCD). It's so distracting that I've quit watching Blu-ray movies althogther! HDMI cable is decent enough (50 quid ish).

Done some searching but haven't come across a solution. Any ideas?

A HDMI cable is a HDMI cable regardless on how much you paid for it.

You could try a system reset. Go to settings and restore default settings. This has helped with some audio issues and may sort your problem.

Could be the settings in your PS3 or telly.

Don't make the mistake of spending big bucks on a new HDMI lead.

Sounds like you spent too much already!

Appreciate the replies. Pretty sure it wasn't the HDMI cable that's the problem (although I was getting suspicious). Will take another butcher's at the settings this evening. Thanks ;)

Try that and get back to us.
BD 1080p 24Hz output (HDMI): Off (for most HDTVs)
Most Blu-ray discs are encoded at 1080p/24 natively, which means they have 1,920x1,080 pixels per frame delivered at 24 frames per second, the native film rate. Many HDTVs cannot accept 1080p/24, however, and many more can but don't get any benefit from this setting, and can look choppy or otherwise incorrect. Unless your TV is designed to accept 1080p/24 signals--this includes most LCD models with 120Hz processing, as well as select plasmas with different refresh rates--you should leave this setting turned off.

There a few settings which can be altered when watching true HD movies. Specifically there is a setting relating to the number of FPS that differs between ourselves and the US, but if you go into the settings on the PS3 you can see where a number of changes can be made, trial and error etc.

Well fair play to ya! That appears to have done the trick - no more damn lines on the screen. That was really bugging me.

    Many thanks, 'tis much appreciated!!

This is also worth having a look at it.
